About CrescentFly

Who we are, and how we earn

CrescentFly recommends gifts, and some of those recommendations earn us a commission. This page explains who chooses them, how they are chosen, and where the money comes from — in full.

Why CrescentFly exists

Choosing a gift for someone you love is not a shopping problem. It is a question about the person — what they are like, what this occasion means, what you gave them last time. Search engines and marketplaces answer a different question, and answer it with a thousand options and no opinion.

CrescentFly is built to answer the question you actually have, with a small number of gifts chosen by a person who can explain why each one fits. It remembers the people you celebrate and the dates that matter, so the next occasion starts further along than a blank search box.

Who is behind it

CrescentFly is built and run by one person, not a company. Gifts are chosen by hand rather than by a scraper, which is only possible because the catalogue is deliberately small — a few hundred gifts that earn their place, rather than every product a marketplace can list.

As the platform grows, curation will grow with it: additional curators reviewing gifts in their own areas, under the same rules described below. Whoever is doing the choosing, a person signs off on every gift before it can reach you.

You can reach us at crescentfly.help@gmail.com.

How we curate

Recommendations come from deterministic rules, not from a language model deciding what you should buy. When you use the Gift Finder, the ranking is computed from the relationship, the occasion, your budget, the curator’s quality score, and what you have already given that person. AI is used to help write explanations and descriptions — never to choose or to order the results.

  • Every gift is reviewedA gift cannot appear publicly until a curator has approved it and recorded where it came from. Nothing is scraped and published automatically.
  • Every gift is explainedIf we cannot say why a gift suits the person and the occasion, it does not belong in your results. That is why you get a handful of picks with reasoning rather than a list of hundreds.
  • Gifts are re-checkedRecommendations go stale — prices move and products disappear. A gift that has not been verified recently steps out of the Finder until someone looks at it again.

How we make money

CrescentFly is free, and there is nothing to buy here — no cart, no checkout, no payment. When a gift is right for you, we send you to the retailer that sells it. If you buy there, that retailer may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra: the price you pay is the same as it would be had you gone there directly.

These are the partner programmes we currently take part in. When we add another, it will be listed here.

  • Amazon Associates (India)As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Our Amazon links carry our Associates tracking id, crescentflyin-21, and we build every one of them ourselves rather than using links from any third-party network.

Outbound links pass through a crescentfly.com/go/… address so we can count the click before forwarding you. That record holds which gift and which link were clicked, and nothing about you — no name, no email, and no connection to your account if you have one. The privacy policy describes it in full.

What commissions never do

A commission is how CrescentFly pays for itself. It is never a reason to recommend something. These are rules in the code, not intentions:

  • Whether a gift earns us anything has no effect on whether it appears in your results or where it ranks. Commission is not one of the inputs to the ranking.
  • A sponsored placement can never change a gift’s eligibility or its quality score, and would be labelled as sponsored where it appeared. We carry none today.
  • We do not accept payment to write a better explanation, to add a gift to a collection, or to remove a competitor’s.
  • We never share what you save — the people, dates, and notes in your account — with any partner we link to.

If you would rather not send us a commission at all, search for the gift at the retailer yourself. The recommendation is the part we are proud of; the link is just convenience.
